Please take a gander, and enjoy all that I have to offer here. I am slowly crafting this site by hand so that I can express myself in the digital realm.

I have always wanted to travel back to a time when the internet was still very much a decentralized space. I think that time appeals to me because websites were more about expressing yourself as an individual or community rather than selling a service or trying to attract views. Of course my view of this is going to be quite nostalgic since I was only able to experience this type of internet for a few years before early Facebook and YouTube were born. But even the early years of those sites maintained that early-internet feel. I miss that, and it seems many other people do too. So, I decided to do what many others have been doing as well ... make my own website!

An Introduction

My pseudonym is oddish1, or occasionally TheOddish1. Hence the title of this website. I graduated in May of 2025 with a bachellors degree in computer science. I really enjoy computer science and coding, but the job market is very tough right now. So, after not finding anything, not even an interview, I got a retail job at a hardware store working at the customer service desk. I don't mind it, as I have a lot of patience and it pays fairly well for the type of job that it is.

People have asked me since I have graduated what my career goals are, and I generally answer along the lines of, "Well I would like to work for a big tech company writing software for them." But in all honesty, I don't know that I would be happy doing that. My passion for technology lies more in the empowerment that it brings those who use it. And in this day and age, technology has been used overwhelmingly as a tool of oppression and exploitation. Nearly every fiber of my being is against what big tech stands for. So, in reality, I would be perfectly happy working whatever job pays the bills and affords me time to spend on my own pursuits. This website being one of them.

This site will be a place for me to share my thoughts and experiences through a blog; things that I am working on in the programming section; book, movie, and tv reviews/recommendations in the library section, and cool things on the internet in my links section.
